UK to become more ethnically diverse

Immigration is a subject that has frequently been debated in Parliament and the UK media, and many research studies have been commissioned to investigate the scale and impact of immigration across the country.

The Immigration Rules contain specific provisions for dependents of members of HM Armed Forces, including spouses, civil partners, unmarried or same-sex partners, to make applications for entry clearance, leave to remain or indefinite leave to remain in the UK. The family members of the Armed Forces members do not need to satisfy the more stringent requirements of Appendix FM of the Immigration Rules.

Members of HM Armed Forces are, while they are serving, free from the restrictions imposed by UK immigration law. Upon enlistment with the appropriate department of HM Armed Forces, an applicant is entitled to have their passport stamped accordingly to confirm that they are free from immigration restrictions whilst they are serving.

Prime Minister David Cameron has set out proposals to tighten the immigration system in Britain. The plans include asking the public to report those they suspect of being illegal immigrants.
