Exceptional Talent

Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) is a new category of the Points Based System designed for people who are regarded as being leaders or potential leaders in the fields of arts, culture, humanities, social sciences, natural science, medical science research and engineering. The category opened on 9 August 2011 and only 1,000 places are available every year.

The visas will be allocated to people chosen by the Royal Society, Arts Council England, the Royal Academy of Engineering and the British Academy.

You will need to show that you have been allocated a reference number by one of these bodies, and that you speak English to the required standard.
