UK Immigration Barrister Client Testimonials

"When I called Paul Richmond, I was in desperate situation. I had spoken to at least 15-20 different immigration lawyers regarding my case and was seeking representation at an appeal. From my first phone call with Paul, I noticed the differences immediately. Paul was exceptionally well-spoken, when he spoke to me it was as though he was speaking in a courtroom, he came across as effortlessly professional. When he explained things, they just made sense. Simple. Not only did I have a perfect understanding of what he was saying, he backed up his arguments using points of the law.
Out of all the lawyers I spoke to he was the first one to inform me that I didn't have to appeal and instead could submit an 'out-of-time' application! Every other lawyer I had spoken to had somehow failed to mention this!
Paul is a technical expert. When he's answering your questions, it's almost as though he's filling out a form - he just knows all the answers. When there is something he needs to double check, he'll actually go away and come back to you with the right answer later. Whenever I asked him a question via email, I always got an answer by the end of the day, even on weekends! You can tell he takes a lot of pride in his work.
The 5 page covering letter he wrote for my application was fantastic! I now have my visa and can finally get on with my life!" (Mr. Senanayake - granted further leave to remain as a Tier 1 (General) Migrant)
"Following a disappointing experience using a solicitor to appeal my immigration case, my partner and I were grateful to discover we could instruct a barrister directly to represent us in court. Using Mr. Canters service we were able to tailor the services he provided to suit our budget, saving us considerably over what our solicitor was asking, with a much greater level of service and attention. He provided us invaluable assistance in compiling statements and evidence into a bundle for court, and despite ultimately having the case resolved before needing to return to court, we were very grateful for his assistance at this stressful chapter in our lives." (Anonymous – granted EEA Residence Card)
"When you are in a point in your life that time and some proper and practical advices in terms of dealing with the law are crucial, having a barrister who is reliable, supportive, capable and trustworthy with a broad professional knowledge that covers all the matters in your case makes you feel calm and confident about the result that you deserve.
That was exactly what I felt during the time you were working on my case dear Mr. Paul Richmond, once again thanks for all your hard work. By what you have done for me I would definitely recommend you to anyone who has any sort of issues for getting Tier 1 (Entrepreneur Visa)". (Mr. A. Ahmadi, Director of Ace Commodities Trading Ltd Co. - granted leave to remain as a Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) Migrant)
"My application for extension of business visit visa on medical grounds was refused by UKBA and had no right of appeal. Most of solicitors had no hope to win the case but Simon only. I searched on internet for reputed Barrister and I found Simon Canter, a Barrister who has good reputed record with HMCS and I found that it’s true. Mr Simon Canter won my case in one stroke. His presentation was very good that the Immigration Judge allowed the appeal on same day of hearing. Mr Canter had deep consideration on my case and dealt with me very nicely and friendly. First meeting had full satisfaction. “First Impression is Last”. I believe that Mr canter is very hard work and cooperative and friendly understandable barrister. I recommend to all, he is equal for all ethnic groups." (Mr. F. Baig – granted leave to remain as a business visitor)
“I would like to thank Mr. Paul Richmond, (Barrister) for the excellent representation for our immigration case. Home Office had refused our application for 7 years old child living in the UK. I was desperate, thinking our life is over and I will have to go to a country which my children never seen. I was seeking professional immigration advice so I sent hundreds of emails to immigration solicitors but sorry to say the calls I have received from the immigration solicitors were totally useless.
The solicitor who initially prepared our application in March 2009 made many mistakes. Also the covering letter was not impressive, so Home Office found no ground to allow us to stay in the UK. When I spoke to Mr. Paul Richmond, Barrister, I realised that I was still lucky that I could contact him. The way he explained the process of the application, it was so convincing.
On the same day, Mr. Paul Richmond prepared my application for Judicial Review, but believe me, within two weeks I received an "In country right of appeal". Here is the crucial point. The way Mr. Paul Richmond prepared my bundle it is totally unbelievable. It seemed Mr. Paul was trying to create or discover something where he could get permission for me and my little children. He was fighting for human rights but honestly I found the best human in the present world who is so serious and dedicated about one client.
I would like to make a request to the people wasting their money and time by going to the solicitors who give big advertisements on TV and Radio. Please don't listen to them. They need only money because they have to pay for the costly ads. If you think that a solicitor who speaks your language will help then you are wrong. I am the victim of a poor immigration solicitor. Also don't listen your friends because they lie, because they are not sincere with you. I have much more to say so soon I will design a website to explain my journey to a successful destination.
Mr. Paul Richmond, I don't have words to thank you but please believe me we are very very appreciative. Thank you.” (Mr. M. Qadri – appeal against decision to refuse Discretionary Leave to Remain allowed)
"Mr Simon Canter is exceptionally professional, thorough and thinks quickly on his feet. I was extremely lucky to encounter him. He is fair, helpful and provides advice without any extra cost on the visa situation one is in. In my case I had my family life here in the UK and I was not sure what visa I should be applying for next and was extremely worried. He advised me to apply my application on humanitarian grounds to the Home Office and drafted the letter for me. My application was refused by the Home Office and we appealed against the decision. He helped me in making the bundle and advised me with my witnesses and even dealt with them directly where necessary. I had an oral hearing with nine witnesses and the Judge gave the verdict on my favour.
I am extremely grateful to him. He is obliging in nature and readily available in terms of advising one with any queries. He is price is reasonable and he is a fantastic Barrister. I reckon everyone who is in any sort of difficulty with their visa situation should go for him." (Anonymous - granted Discretionary Leave to Remain)
I have seen several advisors, solicitors and barristers before I met Paul Richmond from Richmond Canter Immigration Barristers. His advice was the most convincing, accurate and sincerest among them. His response was always quick and to the point. I am very satisfied with his legal advice and representation." (Keiko Yamada - granted Indefinite Leave to Remain on the grounds of 10 years long residence)
"Mr Simon Canter was approached via email in the first instance to give him the background to our case. He was instantly "on the ball" and knew our situation. My husband was an illegal immigrant and we had been married and residing together for years, time had ran out and my husband had been refused leave to remain in the Uk. He could not return to Pakistan due to his family being against our marriage, as I was an older woman with 2 children from a previous marriage.
My husband was a father figure to my children and we were both carers of my father who had serious medical health ailments,as well as my husband and i being in the midst of self funded IVF treatment. Separating us would have meant breach of our human rights from many angles.
From the 1st meeting Simon was able to highlight the core strengths of our case and was able to build a very strong case from that. He set out the path of the appeal process clearly explaining the requirements and costs. Simon was able to argue with the original decision that was made, thus enabling the Home office to acknowledge that they had indeed made the wrong decision. My husband has been given 3 years leave to remain in the Uk, something that we thought was impossible.
Simon is a very hard working, honest, reliable and dedicated professional. He by far exceeded what was expected of him and was caring as well as sympathetic in his manner. The fees he charges are very reasonable and were by no means inflated. The work that he did in our case was worth every penny. I have no hesitation in recommending him as a barrister, he is by far exceptional in his field. He has given my husband and I, our lives back. Long gone are the days we used to cry ourselves to sleep, dreading that we would be parted. Simon has done so much is several weeks for us, so much so, that no other solicitor or barrister has been able to do so in several years. Thank you Simon. You are the best in your field. Please don't hesitate in instructing him." (Mr and Mrs. Ejaz)
"Barrister Paul Richmond, the best immigration and human rights barrister I have ever come across! I would like to place on record my sincere appreciation of the way Barrister Paul Richmond represented my case. It is very rare to find such high standards of sincerity and trust-worthiness in the professional world today. As it was the most important case of my life, after being refused on my 1st appeal and also the right to re-appeal through my earlier solicitor, I was nervous about appointing someone I had heard little about but I certainly wasn't disappointed. Not only did he successfully win a right of appeal at the Upper Tier Tribunal but also my appeal was successfully allowed at a point where all other solicitors and including myself had lost hope. At the court, the way Barrister Paul Richmond argued my case, he proved to be nothing less than excellent. His expertise and help have been invaluable during this process. I will most definitely be recommending his outstanding services to family and friends in the future. Dear Paul, I don't have words to express how thankful I am to you. I earnestly wish you the very best for a great future. May your future efforts be equally successful. Again, thank-you so much." (Afsheen Ul-Haq - granted leave to remain as a Tier 4 (Student) Migrant).
"Mr Simon Canter is one of the most professional barristers in London in immigration. I contacted him when i was disappointed after refusal of Judicial Review from High Court. In first meeting I found him very professional and polite. So I decided to appoint him as my barrister. I was very impress the way he argue my case in the court. and I successfully win the right to stay. Even the judge complimented on Mr Simon that he is well prepared. I am pleased to recommend Mr Simon Canter specially to all those who lost hope in any immigration problem or looking for highly professional legal advisor. I wish Mr Canter all the best in future." (Asif Mahmood)
"Mr Paul Richmond is one of the best barristers in London. I live in Manchester. I am sponsor of my parents who had applied for a settlement visa from Pakistan to join me in the UK as my dependents. My parents visa was refused by ECO in Pakistan. I made an appeal by a solicitor in Manchester but it was refused in the First-Tier Tribunal. At that time I lost my trust in solicitors and I was totally fed up. I started searching for a better solicitor who can help me. I found a barrister, Mr Paul Richmond, on the internet and made arrangements to meet him in his Chambers in London. He studied my parents case and point out the error of laws made by the Immigration Judge. He made an appeal bundle under the Immigration Rules. The way he dealt with my parents case all the way to win in the Upper Tribunal was absolutely amazing and it was unbelievable for me. I am totally surprised with his services. I really appreciate his quick responses back my email about all enquiries. I want to say thanks to Mr Paul Richmond for his help and now I can make a better future for my parents." (Bilal Sarwar - parents granted indefinite leave to remain in the UK as elderly dependent relatives)
“Simon Canter - I would just like to say such a big thank you to Simon Canter. One of the best barristers I have come across. Last year we got in touch with a solicitor to help my partner come to London after he over stayed his visa. We got in touch with a solicitor and to be very honest it was the biggest mistake I made. She specialised only in immigration and I believed that she could help me with my case. It took over 6 months and then when we finally got the feedback from the embassy, we were in great shock, she didn't apply the correct immigration acts / rules and to be honest made a big mess out the whole case. We trusted in her and she had said that we had a very good chance. The review was refused and we later found out that she didn't know what she was doing and we are now seeking advice from the ombudsmen.
My dad then found Simon Canter on the Internet and I'm so grateful that we did because from that moment onwards my dreams had come true. Firstly to find out that we could go directly to a barrister instead of going through a solicitor took most of the stress away and then to find out how quick it took to get my case resolved in this way was unbelievable. I really appreciate the hard work that Simon went through to win my case. He spotted all the previous mistakes made and made me re-do the whole bundle again in the professional way that it should have been done. The input and advice that he gave me was exceptional. He's such an amazing person, very understanding and took so much time to make sure we had the best case. He listened to me at times when I was very depressed and always re-assured me to never give up and keep strong.
When I went to see Simon in the chambers he always took his time to fully explain everything, there was no time limit with him, I could ask him anything and he would always make sure that everything was done in the right process. Myself and my dad would recommend him to any one having any immigration problems from the basic to the most difficult of cases as the experience and time that Simon gives is more than words can describe. My partner is here now in UK and we have never been so happier and that is all down to Simon’s hard work. (decision - the appeal is allowed under the immigration rules, the appeal is allowed on human rights grounds in relation to Article 8 rights) we would like to say again to you Simon from me, my partner, his family and my family, thank you."
